The standard we design to
This website is designed, built and tested against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, Level AA. Meeting WCAG 2.2 AA also covers the Level A and AA success criteria of WCAG 2.1 and 2.0.
That target is the technical standard referenced by the U.S. Department of Justice ADA Title II rule (WCAG 2.1 AA), Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act, EN 301 549 and CAN/ASC-EN 301 549 (which the European Accessibility Act and the Accessible Canada Act rely on), and Ontario's AODA. Where EN 301 549 adds requirements beyond WCAG, we align with them where they apply to a website.
We do not use an accessibility overlay or widget. Fixes are made in the site's own code.
What is built in
Keyboard access
Every link, menu, form and dialog works with Tab, Shift+Tab, Enter, Space and Escape. A "Skip to main content" link is the first stop on every page, and focus is always visible.
Screen reader structure
Each page has one main heading, nested section headings, and header, navigation, main and footer landmarks. Dialogs are announced by name and return you to where you were when they close.
Forms you can finish
Every field has a visible label. Required fields are marked in text. If something needs fixing, the message says what and how, it is tied to the field, and your other answers are kept.
Motion under your control
Animated graphics and background videos have a pause button, and the choice is remembered. If your device is set to reduce motion, they start paused. Nothing flashes, and nothing plays sound.
Readable contrast
Text meets a 4.5:1 contrast ratio, and large text and controls meet 3:1. Notice types are named in words, never shown by color alone.
Zoom and small screens
Pages reflow down to a 320-pixel width and to 400% zoom without sideways scrolling, and pinch-to-zoom is never blocked. Touch targets are sized for fingers.
Known limitations
We would rather tell you than have you find out. As of the latest review:
- Screen reader testing is in progress. Automated testing and a keyboard review cover every public page. End-to-end testing with VoiceOver and NVDA has not been completed yet.
- The bot check is a third-party service. The demo and contact forms use Cloudflare Turnstile, which usually completes without any action. If it blocks you, email contact@unboot.me and we will set you up directly.
- The Unboot.me app is reviewed separately. The plate lookup, payments, receipt verification, documentation and logins at app.unboot.me are a separate application and are not covered by this statement.
Tell us about a barrier
If any part of this website is hard to use, we want to know. Tell us the page address, what you were trying to do and the device or assistive technology you were using. If you need information from a page in another format, ask and we will provide it.
